2011.12.28 - Wedding Singer Cast

I was recently in a production of the musical The Wedding Singer. Simply put, it was a lot of fun, and I decided it would be an interesting endeavor to piece together a picture of the cast in my own artistic style.

For the most part, this was done in the same manner as my webcomic, in that I sketch it on paper then scan it and trace it in Photoshop CS2 on my tablet. Two main differences here are that I had several dozen reference photos of the cast, and that I tried some experimental things with hair. I'm pretty happy with the way everything turned out, if you ignore some proportional issues with some of the characters.

I don't have a good estimate for how long this took exactly, but I did work on it pretty persistently for seven days, so it was probably at least forty hours of heavily-distracted work. All in all it was a very enjoyable project, and I've learned a few more tricks I'll be applying to the comic immediately.
